Biography

Elected in November 2008, it is my honor and privilege to work for the children of Antioch and their families. I am proud to have called Antioch my home for over 45 years. I graduated from Antioch High School, as did my son James. My husband, Ken Gray, is retired from the city of Pittsburg, and now works part-time for the Ambrose Recreation Park District.
After a 28 year career in the telecommunications industry (cable), I left the corporate environment for the nonprofit arena and have been the Executive Director for the Arts Cultural Foundation of Antioch since 2005. I feel fortunate to have a career which involves my passion for the community and takes me off Highway 4 as I spent far too many years commuting to cable systems located throughout northern California. I always found the time to indulge my passion to be part of the community. From serving on city commissions to volunteering at festivals and supporting the business community as a Chamber of Commerce president, I've consistently found ways to give back to the community I call home. I feel my business and nonprofit backgrounds, along with my volunteer experience, provides the experience and compassion needed to be a good school board member.
I have a track record of success in leadership, relationship building, financial sectors, and getting the job with minimal resources. I believe in building collaborative partnerships to engage teachers, parents, and the community in order to create an environment for our students to succeed.
