ERIN CLARK...2013-2014 Teacher of the Year!
It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I write you this morning to inform you that Erin Clark, 1stGrade teacher at Sutter Elementary School, has been selected as the 2013-2014 Antioch Unified School District Teacher of the Year, and that Lisa Kingsbury, English teacher at Dozier-Libbey Medical High School, has been selected as 2013-2014 Teacher of the Year – Runner Up.
Erin Clark, Antioch Unified’s 2013-2014 Teacher of the Year, is completing her 19thyear in public education. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies at St. Mary’s College in Moraga in 1996, her Multiple Subjects teaching credential in 1997, a Reading and Language Arts Specialist Credential in 2003, and finally, a Master’s Degree in Reading and Language Arts in 2007. More recently, Erin obtained her Tier 1 Administrative Services Credential at California State University, East Bay. After completing her student teaching in the Oakland Unified School District, Erin began her career teaching 2ndgrade in the Antioch Unified School District at John Muir Elementary School. From there, she was assigned for 2 years as a TOSA/Reform Facilitator Coach at John Muir and Sutter Elementary Schools, where her efforts focused on providing staff development and coaching in the areas of reading comprehension, student engagement strategies, curriculum calibration, test taking strategies, and providing demonstration lessons. In 2008, Erin joined the staff at Sutter Elementary School, where she has taught both 1stand 2ndgrades. Throughout her years in Antioch, Erin has established herself as a proven site- and district leader as a Site Leadership Team member, a Literacy Coordinator, a member of the Superintendent’s Roundtable, an ELD Task Force Member, a K-12 Curriculum Council member, and a BTSA Advisory Board member. She has served the Antioch Unified School District for several years as a key BTSA Support Provider and trainer and as a mentor and master teacher to several student teachers.
Lisa Kingsbury, the District’s 2013-2014 Teacher of the Year – Runner Up, is currently completing her 20thyear in education. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature in 1992 at the University of California, Riverside and both a Multiple Subjects teaching credential and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English at San Francisco State University in 1993. In 1998, Lisa completed her Masters of Arts degree in English Literature at Holy Names College in Oakland. Lisa began her teaching career at Half Moon Bay High School as an English teacher, where she taught for one year. In 1993, she joined the staff at Antioch High School as an English teacher, where she remained until 2011 when she transferred to Dozier-Libbey Medical High School. She currently teaches English 12 CP, AP Literature and Composition, and Advanced Publications. She also serves as an Adjunct Instructor teaching College Composition at Los Medanos Community College. Lisa has demonstrated her leadership in the District through service as English Department Chairperson at Antioch High School, as a member of the District Common Assessment Committee, as WASC Focus Group leader, as a member of Antioch High School’s Scholarship and Graduation Committees, and as a mentor and master teacher to several student teachers. She was honored as a Mary Allen Fellows Award winner in 2009 and Secondary Teacher of the Year through the Warren Eukel Teacher Trust in 1998, and is a National Board certified teacher in Adolescence and Young Adulthood/English Language Arts.
Without question, each of these amazing and longtime Antioch Unified School District educators share and exemplify a passion and dedication to the teaching profession, to their colleagues, and to the students they have faithfully taught and served in the Antioch community.
