Antioch Unified School District (AUSD) is leveraging the power of the Internet to radically improve the governance process while saving time, taxpayer dollars and the environment. This new eGovernance initiative will replace the old and costly method of compiling, printing, binding and distributing paper agenda packets by hand. The remarkably powerful, easy-to-use solution will enable the organization to maximize the effectiveness of their board meetings with increased transparency, providing a basis for better and more open communication with the public, while dramatically increasing productivity and saving thousands of dollars annually.
The paperless meeting solution, called “BoardDocs®”, was initially developed in the year 2000 for a Georgia school district. Since then, hundreds of governing bodies nationwide have adopted the system. By making meeting agendas and supporting documents available on the Internet, AUSD will be able distribute documents associated with board meetings more quickly and efficiently, at a dramatically reduced cost to the organization.
Electronic distribution will not only save time and resources, but it will also provide unprecedented public access via the AUSD Web site to agenda items and other governing body-related information. This process will allow interested parties to review information prior to board meetings. After the meeting, individuals can review the agenda items and see what action the governing body took, complete with voting results. All documents associated with the meeting are automatically archived and can be accessed by meeting date or by using the system’s comprehensive search feature.

Addressing the Board
Your attendance is greatly appreciated at this meeting of the Antioch Unified School District Board of Education. By statute the Board can only take action on items that are listed on the agenda. If you wish to speak to the Board on an item not on the agenda, you may do so under the “Public Comments” section of the agenda. The Board will take such comments at both the beginning and at the end of the meeting. If you wish to speak, either during “public comments” or during an agenda item, fill out a Speaker Card, indicate the item # and hand it to the Secretary. This will enable the Board to call upon you to speak at the appropriate time. Each speaker is limited three minutes under Public Comments and three minutes on non-public hearing agenda items. No one may speak more than once on an agenda item or during “public comments.” In order to hear a variety of views speakers may not relinquish their time to another speaker. After having heard from the public, the agenda item will be closed to the public. Discussions will then be limited to members of the Board.
Where and when are the meetings held?
The Antioch Unified School District Board of Education meets monthly on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, at 7:00 p.m. at the District Office located at 510 G Street, Antioch.
